🚧🌧️ Partnering to Prevent Flooding: A Successful Start to a Critical Project! 🌧️🚧

Today, we had the privilege of working alongside the County Council and a local Parish Council to tackle recurring flooding issues affecting an awarded watercourse in the village, worsened by the biblical rain we’ve been experiencing lately. 💧

Our task involved a comprehensive solution to mitigate future flooding risks:

Non-Return Valves Installation 🔧: We were asked to quote for digging around road inlet outlets and cutting them flush to install non-return valves. These devices will help prevent backflow and improve downstream flow during normal rain events, giving the village more time to react in serious flooding situations.

High-Pressure Water Jetting 💦: We also priced high-pressure water jetting for the outlets to remove years of buildup. The drainage lines had about 80% debris and mud accumulation, so we’ve started clearing them out.

Marker Posts Installation 🚩: In partnership with the District Council, we installed approved marker posts to indicate where each device is located. This will reduce the risk of accidental damage when the district team performs annual ditch maintenance.

Today was just the beginning! We’ve started the essential groundwork for phase one, cutting and preparing the lines for the non-return valve installations. We’ll be back tomorrow to complete this phase, and once the valves arrive, we’ll return to finish the job.
