‘A Journey into Companionship at the End of Life’
October 3, 2021
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is inviting you to attend a free online lecture, ‘A Journey into Companionship at the End of Life’, on Tuesday 19 October, 7.00pm – 8.30pm.
It features guest speaker, Dr Kathryn Mannix, the bestselling author of ‘With the End in Mind’. She has trained and worked in palliative medicine for 30 years in the North of England, in hospices, patients’ homes and in hospital palliative care teams. Dr Mannix wants to increase the public understanding of dying and mortality, so it becomes more realistic and less terrifying.
Sara Robins, Director of Clinical Services, explains: “The Hospice is delighted to be able to host our Annual Lecture this year with Dr Kathryn Mannix. Having had the privilege of hearing Kathryn speak about her experiences in the past, I am confident that anyone attending our event will be inspired and left with reflective thoughts on how important it is that we get end of life care right for everyone.”
During the lecture, you can expect to hear about Dr Mannix’s personal experience and the journey of UK medical practice in end-of-life care. There will be the opportunity to discuss how to navigate difficult conversations around the end of life, and how hospices can help by offering advice, support and so much more. At the end of the session, there will be the opportunity to ask Dr Mannix – as well as the Hospice’s team – any questions you may have.
The lecture will be hosted online via Zoom and is free to attend, although donations to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity are welcome. Pre-registration is required. Sign up at arhc.org.uk/annual-lecture.
