Ashtons Legal boosts specialist Injury Team
August 3, 2023
Ashtons Legal is pleased to announce the appointment of associate Sylvia Phillips to their specialist Asbestos Disease injury team.
Sylvia qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and has subsequently spent her career gaining considerable experience in the field of personal injury, particularly specialising in mesothelioma and asbestos-related disease claims.
Sylvia, an Accredited Litigator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), joins consultant Andrew Wilson, solicitor Martyn Hayward and paralegal Saima Salsabil, all of whom provide advice and support to clients who have developed diseases related to historic exposure to asbestos. These clients are further supported by Ashtons’ rehabilitation team made up of Amy Rose and Ruth Sparkes, both of whom work to ensure clients have all the required support in place to optimise their rehabilitation and recovery, including access to welfare provision.
Michael Wangermann, Head of Injury Services at Ashtons says: “We are delighted to welcome Sylvia to the team. She joins at a busy time when we are still seeing many enquiries from people suffering with illnesses following exposure to asbestos, a deadly substance, the use of which was only banned in the 1980’s but which is still present in many schools, hospitals and other public buildings. Regrettably, those who worked with it or in its vicinity continue to suffer and die from lung disease consequent to that exposure. Sylvia and the asbestos team help those clients and their families make a financial claim or receive government benefits”.
Michael adds: “Sylvia shares our ethos of always doing the best for the client, including promoting rehabilitation and signposting to other services, and further enhances our first class offering to those who have experienced illness or trauma through no fault of their own”.
Ashtons now has a team of 50 people focusing on assisting clients who wish to bring a personal injury claim. The team work on a national basis, having clients based all over the country.
