Cambridge City Centre hotel under new management with The Citystay Group
August 8, 2021
As part of the continued growth and diversification plans, The Citystay Group are pleased to announce that they have acquired the management of the historic Regent Hotel in the centre of Cambridge, overlooking the world-famous Parker’s Piece. The hotel will now be known as ‘Regent by Citystay’.
Erected in the late 18th Century as the original home of the first five Newnham College students, the building has been serving visitors to Cambridge as a hotel since 1910. The Grade II listed Georgian building was expanded in the late 1980’s to bring the property up-to its current number of 22 guest bedrooms.
The stunning location of the hotel enables it to attract both leisure and corporate travellers to the historic city centre, with all that Cambridge has to offer on its doorstep.
The Citystay Group have successfully achieved planning permission to redevelop the property into Cambridge’s first city centre aparthotel. The group will continue to run the property as a hotel until the refurbishment takes place at the end of 2021 with a proposed relaunch in Spring 2022 to include 22 aparthotel rooms, a co-working space available to guests and public that will include a new food and beverage venture.
Declan Fitzhenry of The Citystay Group commented: “We’re extremely excited to bring the Regent by Citystay to market. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, owing to the hard work and dedication of our team, we have been able to keep pushing forwards. The location of the building is second to none and we cannot wait to relaunch as the first aparthotel in the historic city centre in early 2022. This will be the group’s first sojourn into the aparthotel market, but we have no plans
to slow down expansion.”
