Sustainable Tech 4 Good was born from our specialist data services company, Veritas Digital Services, so data security is front and centre of all that we do. Since 2021, we have taking redundant tech from businesses, refurbishing and redeploying it to address digital inclusion. So far over 6,300 people in need have benefitted from devices to enable them to get online, plus we have saved over 10,400 kg of e-waste and prevented over 1.35m kg of needless CO2 emissions through sustainable reuse. And we work with a network of over 100 charity partners to make sure that devices reach the people most in need.

The growing problem of digital exclusion is now being recognised at a national level, thanks in part to lobbying by groups such as Good Things Foundation and Digital Poverty Alliance. A House of Lords report last year found that digital exclusion was a serious problem, made worse by cost of living challenges for people who then struggled to afford internet access. It also found that basic digital skills was set to become the UK’s largest skills gap by 2030. The need for government action was becoming increasingly urgent.
