Registrations now open: Cambridgeshire’s unmissable celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

March 31, 2022

Registrations are now open for Cambridgeshire County Day which is taking place on 23 June 2022 at the July Course, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire. Free to everyone, the event will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the very best Cambridgeshire has to offer, while celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Thanks to the generosity of Newmarket Racecourse, which has donated the space to host the event at its historic grounds, and key sponsors, including Hill Group, Marshall of Cambridge, Birketts and Anglian Water, the event will raise vital funds for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital, as well as Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund.

With more than 6,000 attendees expected, the event will provide a wonderful opportunity for the county’s diverse and vibrant community to come together and get inspired by the best of Cambridgeshire as local business, charity and public sector organisations showcase innovation and ingenuity from all corners of the County. The Day will also feature a variety of live performances and numerous static displays including tractors, diggers, emergency/military vehicles and a helicopter, all alongside a full day’s horse racing on the July Course.

In addition to all this, the Lord-Lieutenant’s Garden Party, a key part of the day, will be a very special occasion designed to say thank you to outstanding people from across Cambridgeshire who have gone the extra mile during Covid or have selflessly given service to the county over many years.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mrs Julie Spence OBE QPM says: “From unique performances and tremendous displays to networking, racing and hospitality experiences, Cambridgeshire County Day promises to offer something for everyone, and we want to see everyone there! After a challenging time for all, we are delighted to be able to bring the community together to celebrate the best of our County, all while commemorating Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chris Parkhouse, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, says: “As well as providing a fantastic experience for the community, the event will raise essential funds for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital, which is greatly needed in our region. We also hope to raise funds for the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund, established to support those with less means to fully take part in county life.”

Cathy Walsh, Clinical Mental Health Lead at Cambridge Children’s Hospital, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Cambridgeshire County Day for supporting the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital, and for the opportunity to highlight the benefits a new dedicated children’s hospital will bring to children and families across the East of England. We look forward to meeting many young people and businesses from Cambridgeshire on the day.

“Our Cambridge Children’s Hospital fundraising campaign was announced last year with a target to raise £100 million in philanthropy and fundraising. The Hospital will provide a whole new way of caring for children and young people, integrating mental and physical healthcare which will be underpinned by world leading research from the University of Cambridge.”
