Join us on the start line and fly the flag for Team EACH at the Cambridge Half Marathon
February 1, 2022
Runners have the chance to sprint into action and join ‘Team EACH’ at the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has a handful of places remaining for the popular event on Sunday 6 March.
Runners still have time to sign up – in the process raising vital funds to help the charity support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
“There’s still time to register and join us on the start line at Cambridge,” said EACH Community Fundraising Manager Tina Burdett.
“Hopefully people will be inspired and motivated to sign up, because this is always a special day on our fundraising calendar. As well as raising vital funds, we enjoy seeing runners’ hard work, dedication and preparation pay off. It’s a great event, whether someone’s a seasoned runner or it’s their first time tackling a half marathon.
“We’re always grateful to those who support us and especially for their fundraising efforts. It makes such a difference in terms of the care and support we provide.”
The Cambridge Half Marathon, first run in 2012, is regarded as one of the biggest and most beautiful events of its kind in the UK.
It is one of the county’s biggest mass-participation events and the flat, single-loop course takes runners on a scenic tour of the city, passing the Round Church, King’s College, Fitzwilliam Museum and The Backs.
More than 9,000 people took part in last year’s event, held in October. Thousands more lined the streets, for the most high-profile event in the city since before the start of lockdown.
Twenty-three people flew the flag for Team EACH – setting some impressive times and collectively raising more than £13,000.
Among them was EACH Director of Fundraising Kevin Clements, who recorded a time of 1h 52m, and Trustee Brad McLean, who stopped the clock in 2h 18m.
“Our team did an amazing job last year and it was a fantastic day,” added Tina. “They posted some amazing times and to raise so much money really was exceptional. Hopefully this year, with the event back in its regular spring slot, proves just as successful.
“We ask runners to pay a £25 registration fee to help cover costs and suggest raising £250, which will help provide services for families across East Anglia.”
