Greater Anglia invests in cycle parking security upgrade at Cambridge North rail station

A £600K upgrade is being delivered for the cycle parking area at Cambridge North station, to improve cycle security and help to prevent thefts and cycle crime.

The upgrade has been funded in partnership with Sustrans and Cambridgeshire County Council.

Secure fencing will be installed around part of the existing cycle parking area to help deter and prevent thefts, with entry only available via a key fob. The area will also be covered by enhanced lighting and CCTV. Key fobs for the secure area can be ordered via the Greater Anglia website and cost £25 annually. They will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

There will also be spaces for cargo bike parking and accessible parking in the secure area.

A freely accessible cycle parking area, which will not require a key fob, will also continue to be available.

The work is already underway and is expected to be complete later in the Spring.

“We take security very seriously and want to make sure cyclists are able to leave their bikes at the station safely while they travel, so we are pleased to upgrade the cycle parking area and thank customers for their patience while this work is carried out.”
