Happy 35th birthday to Rowan!
October 28, 2019
Rowan, the Cambridge-based charity and arts centre for adults with learning disabilties, is celebrating its 35th anniversary in style this November – and you are invited!
Dame Norma Major, who is Rowan’s patron, along with the trustees cordially invite you to Rowan’s 35th Birthday Party at the Guildhall, Cambridge, on Friday 8 November from 6.30-10.30pm. There will be drinks on arrival, a ceilidh, buffet and more! Sponsored by ARM.
When speaking to the student artists who attend Rowan they explained why it is such an important place for them. Nia, who comes to Rowan twice a week, said: “Rowan is my home. If I did not have Rowan I would be at home doing nothing. Here I get to spend time with friends and work hard at my art.”
Elizabeth is always busy on new projects and one in particular has been a new apron for her Mum which she has made in textiles. “I am always proud of the work I do at Rowan. I like to make art that we can sell at our Winter Warmer to help Rowan.”
Rowan is delighted to be one of the charities of the year for the Mayor of Cambridge Gerri Bird who will be attending the event: “I’m so pleased to be able to support Rowan as one of my Mayoral charities, and I can’t wait to help them celebrate their 35th Birthday. Rowan does fantastic craft work, the wood carvings, and also the pottery. The charity does great work getting learning and physical disabled people to show what they can accomplish, so I’m really looking forward to seeing their great work on the 8th November at the Guildhall.”
