Huntingdonshire Business Forum: Watch the highlights from our recent event

April 9, 2025

On 6 March, business leaders and educators came together at Cambridge Regional College, Huntingdon Campus, for the Huntingdonshire Business Forum – supported by the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).

At the heart of the event was a powerful keynote from Michael Moriarty, Employee Services Director at Mick George Ltd, who has led innovative workforce inclusion initiatives for over a decade. His work highlights how businesses can unlock untapped talent and create opportunities for individuals facing barriers – whether young people struggling to enter the job market, prison leavers seeking a second chance, or those with additional needs. Michael’s message was clear: by embracing inclusivity, businesses can build diverse, resilient teams while ensuring opportunities are accessible to all.

In this exclusive video, we hear from key voices across education, careers and local government, including:

  • 👤 James O’Rawe – Cambridgeshire County Council

  • 👤 Amber Walker – Careers Advisor, St Peter’s School

  • 👤 Helen Scully – Form the Future

  • 👤 Laura Kelly – Vice Principal, People & Commerce, Cambridge Regional College

They share their insights on the skills young people need to succeed, the importance of employer engagement, and how collaboration is key to building a strong, inclusive workforce across Cambridgeshire.

The forum also provided access to the CRC Careers Fair, giving employers the chance to meet emerging talent and see how colleges are preparing students for the workplace.

This event forms part of the LSIP’s wider ambition to ensure the skills system meets the needs of local employers. From workforce development to real-world learning, the Huntingdonshire Business Forum showcased how collaboration can help businesses grow, and help young people thrive.
