Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce sees significant jump in membership
March 27, 2023
The Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce has seen a month on month increase in membership over the last seven months, with an increase of nine per cent new members joining. In addition, attendance at Chamber meetings has increased fivefold over the same period.
The Chamber membership is representative of the vibrant and innovative business landscape across Cambridgeshire, ranging from sole traders to multi-national organisations across diverse sectors. Month-on-month growth in memberships has seen a rise in the number of tech companies joining the Chamber and four new companies entering the patron’s club, which supports organisations committed to the success of the Cambridgeshire business community.
Brian Jones, Chair of the Cambridgeshire Chamber, commented: “An increase in Chamber membership and meeting attendance indicates that more than ever, companies are investing in business networks to help them navigate the uncertain times and current challenges.”
The risk and uncertainty in the economy find businesses struggling with higher taxes, rising costs and labour shortages. In addition to these challenges, digitalisation and sustainability are becoming increasingly critical for organisations to remain relevant and competitive today. As a result, companies have a greater need than usual for support with minimal investment.
Helping to build the Chamber network over the past 12 months is Membership Executive Jack Wilson. With a passion for making impactful connections, Jack works closely with individuals and companies across Cambridgeshire to create a supportive network that helps businesses navigate the changing business landscape.
Jack said: “Like many businesses, the Chambers dynamics continue to evolve, post-pandemic. We pride ourselves on supporting the wide-ranging businesses across our region and are delighted to see an increase in the number of tech companies joining specially in the south of the region.
“Cambridge is one of the top tech hubs in the UK, and its ecosystem leads the way globally in game-changing innovations, so it’s important we strive to meet their needs.”
The Chamber of Commerce is an organisation providing a broad range of support to help local businesses raise their profile, drive growth, trade internationally, or save money on HR and legal advice for as little as £1 per day.
