Feeding Emerging Talent into the Motor Vehicle Industry
March 4, 2022
The latest Cambridge Regional College Employer partnership project saw Vindis Group visit the Cambridge Campus this week to kickstart a new approach to identifying emerging talent in the industry.
The Vindis team, comprising Nathan Rook, Brendan Corr, Joseph Rayner, Edmond Nash, and Anna Morris visited the Cambridge Motor Vehicle workshop to talk to Level 2 and Level 3 students about the Vindis Group and career opportunities within the organisation.
Head of Business, Nathan Rook said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to talk to the students as they approach the end of their course. The idea of this partnership is to create a sustainable resource of new recruits and today has proved that there are some talented individuals at Cambridge Regional College.”
Following the presentation, former Motor Vehicle student Joseph Rayner talked to the group about his experience of completing the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Technician Diploma at CRC and moving into the industry as a Trainee Technician with Vindis Group.
Joseph said: “I have been at Vindis for four years now and, in that time, I have progressed from Trainee Technician to Service Technician. I am now training to be a qualified Technician and High Voltage Engineer. My career progression is exciting, and I am pleased to have the backing of my employers as I work towards my goal of becoming a Master Technician by the age of 25.”
The morning concluded with an invitation for interested parties to attend a preliminary interview with the team with a view to securing a formal interview for a role as Trainee Technician upon completion of their Level 3 studies.
Paul Lacey, Head of Construction and Motor Vehicle at CRC, concluded: “Events such as these are a great opportunity for our students to see how they can transition from being a student to working in the industry. Hearing about the success of former students demonstrates real-life opportunities beyond the training workshops, motivating them to succeed as they approach their final assessments.”
