A Cambridge College has expanded the experience and expertise of its Events Team with a senior appointment to drive the business forwards.
Murray Edwards College has appointed Freya Vaughan as Events Manager, responsible for leading a specialist team to deliver a wide range of conferences, meetings, weddings and dinners.
The role includes providing a high quality and efficient events service for all College customers including students, Fellows, staff and external clients, from the initial enquiry through to delivery on the day.
Freya is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has more than 10 years’ experience of running events, both in her previous roles of Marketing & Events Officer at Murray Edwards and before that, Marketing & Conference Administrator at Clare College.
She says: “I am delighted to be leading such a dedicated team, all of whom have the skills and experience required to deliver high quality events and a first-class experience for customers. This is a great opportunity for me to consolidate the events offering here, to ensure that we continue to gain the trust of our ‘customers’ so they feel confident that every last detail is taken care of.
“I am also looking forward to raising the level of valuable contribution our events business makes to the financial wellbeing of the College whilst working alongside its academic interests. My previous marketing role here has given me in-depth experience of activities and campaigns that will help to drive our business forwards.”
Chris Pope, General Manager of Conferences, Catering and Residences, added: “This is an excellent appointment and I look forward to seeing Freya grow our events business, together with her team. She takes on the role at an important time in our events business; we completed 20 years of delivering professional events last year and are now taking that success to the next stage.”
Murray Edwards College offers a range of different spaces for all sizes and types of events, including two self-contained conference centres: Buckingham House and the Kaetsu Centre.
The College was recently awarded four stars by VisitEngland for the high standard of its overnight accommodation for B&B guests and conference delegates.
