South African Chamber of Commerce UK relaunches Cambridge Breakfast series with sponsorship from Mills & Reeve LLP
September 5, 2024
The South African Chamber of Commerce (SACC) UK is excited to announce the highly anticipated relaunch of its monthly East of England breakfast series, starting on the 12th of September 2024. This event marks the return of a cherished tradition that was paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The breakfast series is being relaunched at a pivotal time, with new governments in both South Africa and the United Kingdom presenting fresh opportunities for collaboration and growth. The event is proudly sponsored by Mills & Reeve LLP, a leading national law firm with long-standing and deep roots in East Anglia and a strong international outlook, whose support has been instrumental in making this relaunch possible.
Tania Verdonk, SACC UK East of England Chapter Leader, shared her enthusiasm for the relaunch:
“I’m excited that the time has finally come to relaunch our SACC UK Chapter. As a South African who has lived and run a business in Cambridge for the last 23 years, while maintaining strong family and business links with South Africa, this is a wonderful opportunity to serve both my countries. This event not only allows us to reconnect with our networks but also to strengthen the ties between the UK and South Africa, fostering collaboration and new business opportunities.”
Richard Plaistowe of Mills & Reeve LLP, a dual-qualified South African attorney and English solicitor with 32 years of experience in intellectual property law, also expressed his support for the event:
“As someone with deep roots in both South Africa and the UK, I’m particularly excited to support the relaunch of the SACC UK’s Cambridge breakfast series. At Mills & Reeve, we understand the importance of fostering strong international connections, especially in today’s globalised business environment. This event offers a unique opportunity for professionals to engage, share knowledge, and explore new avenues for collaboration. We’re proud to be a part of this initiative, helping to establish and develop connections between the UK and South Africa, and supporting businesses in each country.”
The breakfast series is designed for South African professionals based in the UK, as well as UK-based individuals and businesses with an interest in South Africa. Attendees will have the opportunity to expand their networks, gain valuable insights from expert speakers, and build meaningful business relationships. Furthermore, the connections made at these events could open up new business opportunities, making this not just a networking event but also a potential catalyst for business growth. The event promises a warm South African welcome, embodying the spirit of Ubuntu—”I am because we are.”
