The future will be low carbon – meet the climate tech disruptors who will get us there

March 18, 2021

Cambridge Cleantech and Oxfordshire Greentech are proud to announce the 24 climate tech companies who will pitch at Cleantech Venture Day on March 25 2021.

This November, when political heads descend in Glasgow for COP26, citizens around the world will demand strong commitments to address the climate challenge. These commitments will need industry-disruptive technologies in sector from hydrogen energy and housing to zero emissions transport – and this is where the climate tech sector has the opportunity to shine.

Cambridge Cleantech and Oxfordshire Greentech welcome you to join our next edition of Cleantech Venture Day to be held online on 25 March 2021, where 24 leading climate tech companies will battle for the attention of investors.

This climate tech investor event has been running since 2006 and over the last 15 years, over £650 billion euros have been invested in the sector. This is the fourth year Cambridge Cleantech is running the event in the UK and the second online edition after a very successful venture week last November with over 250 attendees.

Meet the 24 companies pitching this year, whose solutions align with the UK Government’s  Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution:

Point 4: Accelerating the shift to zero-emission vehicles

Point 5: Green public transport, cycling, walking

Point 7: Greener building

Point 8: Carbon capture, usage, and storage

The shortlisted companies will be joined on the day by eight high growth climate tech companies from the UK Government’s Act4Green programme. Act4Green is a business accelerator programme for cleantech companies run by the UK Government Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in partnership with Cambridge Cleantech in the first quarter of 2021.

Aled Jones, Director at the Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University, will deliver the keynote address on insights into the world of cleantech innovation and investment.

Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech, said: “The world is looking to COP26 to solve the climate crisis, but we will need climate tech innovations to get us there. I invite investors interested in sustainability to join us on the day to hear from some of the most disruptive companies in the fields of clean energy, zero emissions mobility, carbon capture and more. As always, I am impressed by the range and innovative thinking behind these companies and it is heartening to see them grow as a result of connections made on the day.”

Investors will have the opportunity to request one-to-one meetings with companies of interest on our bespoke networking platform. Meetings will take place on the 25-26 March.

Lewis Knight, Strategic Director of Oxfordshire Greentech, said: “Oxfordshire Greentech is thrilled to once again support Cambridge Cleantech at this prestigious pitching event for innovative companies in the greentech space. We’re looking forward to seeing a range of excellent companies pitching and getting the funding they need to grow and succeed, hearing from expert keynote speakers on salient topics, and facilitating that all-important networking which sparks new collaborations. It’s clear that the future will be low-carbon – and Cleantech Venture Day is playing a crucial part in bringing the future to the present.

“J A Kemp attorneys have been providing advice and support to the Cleantech Venture Day teams for several years. The event provides a great opportunity for cleantech businesses to find collaborators and investors and is useful for keeping up with trends and developments in green technologies,” said Joseph Simon-Brown, Associate, European and UK Patent Attorney at J A Kemp LLP.

Andrew Priest, Partner at Birketts LLP, said: “Birketts is very proud to be a sponsor for the forthcoming Cleantech Venture Day. There are some very interesting companies participating on the day, whose technology and know-how, with appropriate investment and support, will no doubt make a significant contribution to the cleantech sector and the challenges that it faces. We very much look forward to hearing on the day what these companies have to offer through their ideas for sustainable cleantech innovation.”

And here is what the pitching companies have to say:

“It is incredibly exciting to be part of Cleantech Venture Day this year. It is a forum that brings together cutting edge thinking and investment, a combination that has the potential to influence the next generation of clean technology. In our world of hydrogen as a fuel for transportation it is noticeable just how informed and interested the delegates at this conference are, even before we have the opportunity to discuss it with them!”- Elham Hassanzadeh, CEO of Arxax

“The Cleantech Venture Day pitch is a fantastic opportunity for RAD Propulsion and we look forward to connecting with the investors and hopefully involving them in the future of marine propulsion, a multi-billion-pound industry that just like the automotive industry is evolving from reliance on diesel and petrol to electricity. Our innovative, unique and scalable electric RIM drives are leading the sustainable marine revolution. We are grateful to Cambridge Cleantech and Oxfordshire Greentech for inviting us to pitch and their instrumental support to us in the process so far.” – Clive Johnson, CEO RAD Propulsion

“Brill Power is looking forward to sharing the latest from their mission to revolutionise energy storage at the Cleantech Venture Day 2021. The opportunity to pitch to an audience keen to work together to build a cleaner future is critical to cleantech start-ups like ours.” – Carolyn Hicks, CEO of Brill Power
