Cambridge lawyers offer trio of free immigration webinars

March 3, 2022

As the combined impact of Brexit and the pandemic hit home, Cambridge law firm Stone King is running a series of free webinars on immigration topics to tackle the issues that many organisations are facing. Sessions include one aimed at the tech industry, one on sponsorship licence compliance and a webinar on impending changes to Right to Work checks.

Stone King’s Head of Immigration, Julie Moktadir, says: “The events of the past two years have had a great impact on various industries and immigration regulations. As an increasing number of organisations look overseas to solve their recruitment challenges, we explore some of the main issues they face. In our Right to Work checks webinar we will go through what the impending changes mean for employers.”

The first session, on 8 March, is on Workforce Shortages in the Tech Industry at which Julie, who is a partner at the firm, will be discussing the impact that shortages have on recruitment in the industry and possible solutions. Topics will cover workforce planning, sponsorship of overseas workers, the benefits of the shortage occupation list and the costs involved in recruiting from outside the UK.

The second webinar, on 16 March, is on the topic of Sponsorship licence compliance – do’s and don’ts and will include discussion around complying with sponsorship duties, UKVI visits, Right to Work checks, risks associated with non-compliance and maintaining a Sponsor Management System.

The final webinar in the series, on 30 March, covers the upcoming Changes to Right to Work checks, which come into force on 6 April 2022. Julie will explain the new digital identity verification checks, changes to manual checks (including for British and Irish nationals) and the end of adjusted checks due to the pandemic.

Julie adds: “All our sessions are interactive so attendees can come ready with their specific questions which we can address during the webinar.”
