UK developed 5G network coming to Cambridge
December 7, 2020
During Q1 2021 Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and DC Intelligence Ltd (DCI), a Cambridge based digital infrastructure business, will be demonstrating an entirely UK developed 5G network from their secure Tier III data centre in Cambridge.
Potential clients and partners are invited to visit the Cambridge facility and connect to 5G equipment to determine how the technology could be of benefit to both their businesses and the local community.
Part of the solution which will be demonstrated is an all-British 5G to 5G aerial mast configuration which can deliver high speed connectivity to remote parts of Cambridgeshire without the need of fibre installation.
John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, commented: “Digital working is key to our future success and 5G, the fifth generation of cellular networks, brings new capabilities that are essential for our future competitiveness.
“5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices. We are delighted to be involved in this exciting all British sourced 5G initiative with DCI.”
Chris Ward-Jones, CTO of DCI, said: “We’re excited to be working with the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and their members to deploy and demonstrate 5G technologies in support of local businesses.
“5G is rapidly changing the technology landscape, with easier access to faster connectivity businesses will become more agile and customers more accessible. DCI’s 5G solution has been developed entirely in the UK and in Q1 2021 local businesses will be able to visit our Cambridge facility to test solutions and see how they can benefit from this game changing technology.”
