Unlocking growth through green and digital innovation: CambsB2B South returns to Duxford

October 14, 2024

CambsB2B, hosted by the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, will take place on Wednesday 13 November at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. This year’s event focusses on two aspects of future business growth: sustainability and digital transformation, offering an opportunity for local businesses to thrive in a rapidly changing market.

Recent research from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership indicates that 70% of business leaders in the UK believe that regulatory support is vital for achieving their net-zero ambitions, highlighting the critical role of sustainability in future business growth. CambsB2B aims to offer a platform to explore these themes.

Faye Holland, Chair of the Cambridge and South Cambs Committee, said,

“Cambridge is at a critical juncture, where balancing rapid growth and sustainability is essential. The region is home to over 5,500 knowledge-intensive businesses, who contribute around £19 billion to the local economy through life sciences and technology sectors.

“This event offers a unique platform for businesses of all sizes to connect, share insights, and explore innovative solutions that will not only drive economic growth but also offer collaboration to ensure sustainability. With Cambridge’s strong innovation ecosystem, the potential for impactful partnerships and sustainable economic growth is enormous.”

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority CEO, Rob Bridge added,

“The focus on green and digital innovation is not just timely—it’s essential. CambsB2B South gives businesses the tools to navigate today’s challenges while unlocking opportunities for sustainable growth and success. With digital employment growing by over 50% in the last five years, outpacing most other sectors, and information technology firms forming the second-fastest growing sector in our region, events like this are crucial in equipping businesses to thrive in an evolving economic landscape. As we continue to develop our local growth plan, supporting these sectors is a cornerstone of ensuring long-term prosperity for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.”

The event, open from 10.00am-3.00pm, begins with a Business Leaders Breakfast, a popular feature at Chamber events throughout the year.

This exclusive breakfast sets the stage for the opening of the exhibition, and will include keynote speaker Kieran Dent, Agent at Bank of England, as well as a panel discussion with the Labour and Co-operative Member of Parliament for Peterborough, Andrew Pakes, Michaela Eschbach, CEO of Cambridge Wireless and Richard Kenny, Executive Director for Economy & Growth at Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.

The Chamber expects that the experience will be packed with opportunities for likeminded individuals and business leaders to learn, connect, and innovate.
