EACH hospice looks stunning for the first Winter Wonderland at Milton
December 21, 2022
A children’s hospice was transformed into a stunning winter wonderland for a day of festive fun.
Staff pulled out all the stops to decorate and illuminate the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) base in Milton.
Children, young people and families receiving care and support were invited along and had the chance to meet Father Christmas. Other highlights included finding hidden presents and elves, throwing fake snowballs and meeting actors dressed as characters from Disney hits Frozen and Beauty and the Beast.
Ten families attended and it was the first Winter Wonderland to be held at Milton.
EACH Service Manager Mike Higgins said: “We had a magical day and it was a very special Christmas celebration.
“It’s the first time we’ve held this event and the only disappointment was that more families weren’t able to join us, due to illness and personal circumstances. However, those that came had a great time and the feedback on the day was extremely positive.
“Our hospice looked absolutely beautiful and the families seemed to enjoy themselves. No-one was in a rush to leave and, in addition to the activities, we were all able to enjoy a hot chocolate and mince pie together.”
Staff dressed up and, for the first hour of the afternoon, they were able to bring their own families along to see the hospice.
“Everyone pulled together and went the extra mile, especially (Caretaker) Connor Daley and (Lead Administrator) Deborah Watts,” added Mike.
“Through his work, Deborah’s husband was able to provide the outdoor uplighting around the site, so the trees and building stood out.
“We were also extremely grateful for a donation from Citrix, which helped pay for the majority of our Christmas lighting. Hopefully our Winter Wonderland goes from strength to strength and is even bigger and better next year.”
