Highfield Ely Academy – Careers Carousel!

The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Careers Hub sits within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and endeavours to recruit at least one Enterprise Advisor (EA) from industry to work with every secondary school/college and special school. The EAs work with the schools to support their Careers Programme and where, possible, link to their wider business networks.   One such event was the delivery on Friday of a Careers Carousal to Year 10 and 11 students at Highfield Ely Academy.   Enterprise Advisors,  Lis Every and Nikki Pritchett worked with volunteer Ruth Buckley, supported by Alvina Morey, Senior Enterprise Co-ordinator to bring the world of work into the classroom for both students and staff.

 

The students are always so enthusiastic and keen to join in the activities and Friday was no exception.  Activities included, guessing the professional, learning about local employers and potential job opportunities, finishing with mock interviews.  Many of the students have interviews at colleges over the next few weeks, so this was excellent preparation and the students did amazingly well.  The students’ employability programme also includes work experience in local firms, where possible.
