Speaker – Sheila Kissane-Marshall, Founder and CEO of Boutros Bear Ltd.  

The company was founded after Sheila’s own diagnosis and treatment for an aggressive form of breast cancer. Although the treatment included the latest cutting-edge therapeutics, including targeted therapies, there was little available to support mental and physical rehabilitation and return to work following the treatment’s cessation.

Determined to address this, Sheila has since raised significant investments from Cambridge-based investment funds and angel investors. This enabled the creation of a team of technical and clinical experts to create Boutros Bear, which provides extensive rehabilitation programmes for people with cancer, chronic pain, menopausal symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Before Boutros Bear, Sheila’s career started with a degree in Engineering (Aeronautical, Mechanical and Civil) from Queen Mary and Westfield (part of UCL). After graduating in 1998, she specialised as a Civil Engineer. Over her 20 years in the construction sector, she gained a breadth of experience working as a contractor, Designer, Consultant and Client. She also worked as the Infrastructure Director for a privately owned Aerospace and manufacturing company.

Alongside her professional career, Sheila holds or has held many charitable and trustee positions for organisations such as the Cancer Platform, Cambridge United Community Trust, and The Royal Albert Homes. Sheila is also a mentor on the ‘Accelerator Cambridge Entrepreneural programme’ sharing her insights and experience with aspiring entrepreneurs.
