Roythornes announces promotions amid exciting expansion plans
October 23, 2020
Leading East Anglia and Midlands-based law firm Roythornes Solicitors has revealed details of six new partner promotions as its exciting expansion plans begin to take hold.
Benjamin Smith, Emily Danson, Claire Hindmarsh, Hannah Leese, Alex Armstrong, and Lisa Millington have all been promoted to partner just as the law firm announces the exciting expansion of its Alconbury and Birmingham offices.
After establishing an office in Birmingham city centre earlier this year, the firm has now moved to larger premises to accommodate its expanding team. Benjamin and Emily – who joined the business earlier in the year alongside partner Bhavesh Amlani, a former sector head at national firm Shoosmiths – have both been promoted within the real estate team to partner.
Roythornes has also expanded in Cambridgeshire. The firm first opened its Alconbury office on the Enterprise Campus of the brand new Alconbury Weald development in March 2019. Since that time, the team has gone from strength to strength and has now taken larger premises on the same development.
Vember Mortlock, Managing Director at Roythornes, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for Roythornes. We took immediate measures to strengthen the business as soon as we went into lockdown – we planned for the worst but strived for the best. This strategy resulted in a strong end to our financial year in June, with turnover up by four per cent and net profit up by 10 per cent. This was a fantastic result, showcasing a huge amount of hard work and dedication by our staff.”
The new partners are all located across the firm’s sectors and offices. Alconbury-based Claire Hindmarsh specialises in agricultural property, Hannah Leese is a specialist food litigator in the Nottingham office, and Alex Armstrong and Lisa Millington – who both trained with the firm – are located in the Spalding headquarters within the real estate and private client teams respectively.
Kelly Eagers has also promoted to senior associate at the Peterborough office, with Mark Towey and Ben Taylor taking associate roles at Spalding. Georgina Worley has also recently joined the Alconbury real estate team as a senior associate.
Vember added: “All of those promoted have demonstrated their expertise, adaptability, and exceptional levels of client service throughout the current period – we are thrilled to have them on board as we continue to drive the business forward.
“Our entry into the West Midlands market, and growing Cambridgeshire team, have helped to further establish our reputation as experts in our key sectors of housing and development, agriculture, food and natural resources. Having a deep understanding of the sectors we work in, and the particular issues that the industries face in these times, greatly enhances the legal advice that we can give.
“Although a lot of our staff are still working remotely, the office environment still has an important part to play for both the wellbeing of the staff and the business. Our new spaces provide a welcome balancing environment alongside our virtual ‘one team’ way of working.”
Roythornes was also once again recognised by the leading, independently researched Legal 500 this year, with its agriculture team securing a tier one ranking and many other departments also featuring.
