Release of Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) Annual Report for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

The Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce have unveiled the latest update on the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough supported by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The LSIP annual report aims to showcase achievements and initiatives undertaken since its inception, including the utilisation of the Local Skills Improvement Fund, which has secured nearly £2.5 million to bolster education and training programs, aligning with local industry demands.

The newly released report highlights the significant strides made in addressing local skills shortages and outlines future priorities for improving the capabilities of the regional workforce.

Developed in collaboration with employers, education providers, and stakeholders, the LSIP has been instrumental in identifying critical skill gaps across key sectors such as Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital & IT, and Agri-tech.

Charlotte Horobin, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said,

The Minister for Skills, The Rt Hon Baroness Smith of Malvern, said,

“I welcome the publication of the Local Skills Improvement Plan Progress Report for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This report sets out progress made on meeting the skills needs of local employers.

“As well as being a valuable source of information for local skills deliverers, employers and stakeholders, the reports along with the LSIPs themselves, will provide important intelligence for the newly established Skills England.”
