City accountants launch tenth annual business survey
March 1, 2023
Top 10 accountancy firm Azets has launched its tenth annual Greater Peterborough Business Survey.
Organised in conjunction with economic development agency Opportunity Peterborough, the survey provides a valuable insight into city business life.
Business leaders and decision makers across the Greater Peterborough area are being invited to take part in the online questionnaire, which closes on 17 March.
The survey, the only one of its kind to focus exclusively on Greater Peterborough, gauges performance of local businesses, common challenges and key areas of opportunity.
Results will be revealed at the Opportunity Peterborough Bondholder Network breakfast on 22 April and all participants will receive a copy of the survey report.
Mark Jackson, Azets’ Peterborough office Managing Partner, said: “This survey delivers an excellent annual snapshot of current issues and their impact on the health of local businesses.
“Azets is glad to administer the survey as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the city’s business community and I urge businesses of all shares and sizes to give their views.
“Businesses across Greater Peterborough cover a wide variety of sectors and perhaps that is one reason why we often manage to be more resilient than other cities.
“We have seen how many leaders have implemented change in the last few years in order to survive and have come out stronger. Challenges remain and we look forward to seeing how businesses are continuing to adapt.”
Tom Hennessy, Chief Executive at Opportunity Peterborough, said: “The last two years have been very mixed with some businesses having their best results ever while others were struggling to survive.
“The findings of this survey provide a valuable insight that helps direct planning and thinking across the city and we hope many will take time to share their experience.”
In previous years the survey has highlighted many challenges faced by business and also ways in which leaders have achieved success despite those difficulties and how they find opportunities amongst the pressures.
Although national data suggests tough times are set to continue, Peterborough is known for bucking the trend.
Interest will focus on whether last year’s predictions by 48 per cent of respondents that they expected to see a stronger business performance over the last 12 months proved to be correct.
Azets, the UK’s largest regional accountancy and specialist business advisor to SMEs, is based in Lincoln Road, Peterborough.
