Embracing Equity panel discussion to celebrate International Women’s Day
February 28, 2023
Delegates are encouraged to help create a gender equal world to celebrate International Women’s Day at Peterborough Cathedral on Wednesday 8 March. This popular and prestigious annual event in the Chamber calendar regularly attracts over 75 business people.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The theme for 2023 is #EmbraceEquity and allows us to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity.
A panel discussion focusing on the theme will be chaired by Katie Allen. Katie is a specialist Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant and Executive Coach, and Founding Director of Katie Allen Consulting Limited. She enables organisations to connect their desire for a high performing workplace culture with a strategic approach, to successfully achieve their business aims through inclusive working practices.
Commenting on her involvement, Katie Allen said: “I’m delighted to be hosting the panel discussion for Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce’s IWD event this year. Equity in the workplace is often misunderstood, or missing from business conversations altogether, so this is an important and much needed session for changing that. It’s going to be an insightful discussion, and I can’t wait!”
The event will allow delegates to delve into issues that are central to the career development of women, debate ways to influence change, and take time to consider their own ambitions, aspirations and barriers.
Focusing on positivity, table workshops, hosted by the Inspiring Women’s Sector committee, will share an anecdote and lead a discussion around what helped in their journey, either personal or professional, and how it led to a positive experience.
