Peterborough and Stamford Chambers merge to enhance business representation
October 13, 2021
Stamford Chamber of Commerce has merged with Peterborough Chamber of Commerce to strengthen the support that we provide to our members and to facilitate collaboration and build strategic partnerships.
This merger will provide an excellent way forward to better support both Peterborough and Stamford companies through bringing members in these areas closer together and ensuring Stamford businesses are represented on the Chamber Board.
We expect to see the Chambers’ engagement and activity within the Peterborough and Stamford business community increasing to meet the changing needs of our membership and rebuilding of the economy. To facilitate this, the Chamber has appointed Kamla Sooriah as Head of Membership. Kamla will spend most of her time in the Peterborough and Stamford area to grow connections and build positive relationships with businesses. With previous roles at The Great Northern Hotel and Walnut Technology, Kamla already has a large network of connections in the area.
Shaun Hindle, Chair of the Peterborough & Stamford Chamber of Commerce, said: “Bringing Peterborough and Stamford Chambers together presents a great opportunity for businesses in both areas to work more closely, develop business connections and learn from each other. As part of the recovery within our economy we want to enable the business community to grow and pursue new business opportunities. Peterborough and Stamford business community will be stronger together.”
Vic Annells, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, added: “These changes will ensure that the Stamford business community continues to receive the best possible support from the Chambers. With stronger representation on the Board, greater involvement in the wider economic area including Peterborough, and provision of additional local expertise from Kamlah Sooriah, we look forward to seeing members of the Peterborough and Stamford Chamber of Commerce thrive.”
