Support available for businesses to boost their green New Year’s Resolutions

The Eastern New Energy (ENE) programme is calling for high energy using businesses to commit to a sustainability step-change in 2021.

The environmental charity PECT, which is overseeing part of the ENE programme’s Grant Scheme, would like to hear from organisations that use more than 1 Gigawatt of energy per year, to help them kick-start their green New Year’s Resolutions.

The project is assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Hertfordshire and, if eligible, businesses can potentially receive grant support to help catalyse capital investments in energy efficiency initiatives or renewable energy technologies.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for high energy using businesses to access expert assistance and funding to implement effective energy efficiency measures,” says Antony Gough, ENE Grant Scheme Project Manager. “Our funding pot is limited, so we’d urge businesses to get in touch sooner rather than later, so they don’t miss out.”

There is a multitude of long-term organisational benefits to investing in energy efficiency, including reduced operating costs, increased competitiveness, business growth and resilience. Eligible technologies the project can support include Solar PV, LED Lighting, zonal heating controls, the upgrading of process equipment and more.

The PECT project team brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field, having previously supported over 270 businesses and identified £1,400,000 of cost savings and 6,500 tonnes of carbon savings, through its Business Energy Efficiency programme.

ENE has received funding from the England European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The ENE programme is led by the University of East London, with a wider partnership comprising 23 organisations.
